đź’› THIS IS GOLD… BUT IT’S REALLY YOURS đź’›
We’re not usually ones to blow our own trumpet, but this comment from Stuart Smith MP, Chair of the Climate Change Adaptation Inquiry, is something we wanted to share.

This isn’t about celebrating ourselves. It’s about proving that ordinary people really can make a difference.
When the Government quietly opened submissions on climate adaptation with just 12 days’ notice, CALM acted. We prepared a submission, spread the word, and with your support, more than 1,000 New Zealanders had their voices heard.
That effort mattered.
Today, the extreme RCP8.5 scenario that underpinned much of that work has been widely discredited, and the political landscape is changing. But the battle isn’t over. Many councils are still relying on outdated assumptions that affect homeowners and communities.
Together we’ve shown we can make a difference. Let’s keep going.
Our priorities now are:
- Remove Jacobs’ reports from LIMs.
- Get RCP8.5 out of council planning (contact your Councillors now and ask them ” Will you commit to using the latest science and stop relying on implausible worst-case climate scenarios for local planning?“
- Support the judicial review by Coastal Ratepayers United challenging these processes.
Let’s save our homes—together.
