- You are encapsulated in the “Coastal Adaptation Areas” (CAA) if you live between the beach and up to 2km inland, which is not just beachfront but also floodplains, rivers and ponding areas etc.
- ALL of Paekakariki is captured in the CAA
- The extreme modelling, undemocratic process and alarmist outcomes could affect your property rights, valuation, rates and living costs if a CAA hazard is placed on your Title (LIM) or Insurance Companies are influenced.
Adaptation Zones

- Because nearly all of Kapiti Coast has been identified in a CAA and understandably many residents are concerned about changes in climate, a calm approach would be to have solid protection barriers (eg. sea walls, rocks etc) put in place in the immediate future.
- This would be sufficient for NZ’s sea level rise currently tracking at RCP/SSP 2.5.
