Plausible Science
- Use modelling that accounts for:
- Solid protection barriers, eg. seawalls, rocks and natural barriers
- Updated IPCC data using likely scenarios
- Factors for sandy beach, not high energy rocky shoreline
- Use of wider scientific views/data for balance – eg. Kapiti’s accreting (ie. extending seawards) coastline and rising landmass.
Calm Planning
- Remove Coastal Adaptation Zones which could cause financial, psychological, social and community stress
- Mitigate/maintain/adapt/build infrastructure as necessary with the least cost and most benefit solutions, eg. seawalls, to account for plausible risks
- Genuine transparent community engagement and feedback
- Re-engagement with the community for the Central and Northern Kapiti areas as they were not properly notified
- PAUSE the CAP process as it appears to be costly, flawed and not based on balanced science
- END reliance on the extreme CAA modelling from the Jacobs Report and other data, as it is difficult for the community to have confidence in this process
- ESTABLISH a true democratic process that is transparent, uses genuine dialogue and plausible modelling
- INCLUSIVE in-person community meetings and feedback (not online)
IN SUMMARY
TAKUTAI KAPITI/CAP HAVE CREATED A SOLUTION
AND LOOKED FOR A PROBLEM

They have cherry picked the science for a pre-determined outcome, and of that science they have used extreme implausible scenarios as a starting point
