The community-funded peer review of the Kapiti Flood Hazard Management Report is out – and the findings are eye-opening.
Dr Willem de Lange’s expert review reveals:
No evidence the flood models were ever validated
Assumptions that ignore key changes over the next 100+ years
No actual risk assessment included
Use of extreme, implausible climate scenarios (RCP 8.5 & 8.5H+)
No analysis of how likely these predicted floods are to occur
This raises serious questions about how decisions are being made – and what’s being used to justify them.
